Patients typically come to Dr. Ahmad for the management of irregularities of heart rhythm, fainting and implantation and follow up of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators.
Dr. Ahmad was one of the first Cardiac Electrophysiologists to perform radiofrequency ablation and subcutaneous implantation of automatic defibrillators in the Dayton area. Dr. Ahmad is experienced in complex arrhythmia ablation and device implantation and is one of the highest volume operators in this specialty. He is among a handful of physicians in Ohio experienced in laser lead extraction, being the first to bring this technique to the Miami Valley.
Dr. Ahmad has been an active investigator in various clinical research trials in the field of Cardiac Electrophysiology since 2001. “My participation in the biventricular ICD trials allowed my patients’ access to this life-saving therapy even before it became mainstream.”
Dr. Ahmad has been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance in their Heart/Stroke Recognition Program. This program was developed in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association to recognize physicians who demonstrate that they provide quality care for patients with cardiac conditions or who have had a stroke.
It is important to Dr. Ahmad that his patients understand, in lay person’s terms, their condition and the plan of treatment. Equally important is that all of their questions are answered. He favors simple, clear terms and uses other media to explain procedures to patients. In his words, “It is very important to me that my patients understand their condition and my plan of care for them. This, I believe, is the essence of a good communicator and physician.”
Dr. Ahmad resides in Centerville with his wife and three children.
