Thomas I. Kanomata, M.D.

Thomas I. Kanomata is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and Society of Internal Medicine. Dr. Kanomata is a member of the American Medical Association, the Montgomery County Medical Association, the American Medical Directors Association and the Ohio State Medical Association.

Dr. Kanomata graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Loma Linda, California and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering, Ohio. Dr. Kanomata received his undergraduate degree from Andrews University, Berrien Springs, Michigan.

Dr. Kanomata has received recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance in both their Heart/Stroke Recognition Program and in the Diabetic Physician Recognition Program. The programs were developed in conjunction with the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association to recognize physicians who demonstrate that they provide high quality care for patients with diabetes and patients with cardiac conditions or who have had a stroke.

Dr. Kanomata has a special interest in Geriatrics and since 1995, has served as the Medical Director of Elmcreek Nursing Home. He is also interested in peripheral vascular disease and interprets peripheral vascular ultrasounds.

Dr. Kanomata serves on the Board of Directors for the Kettering Physicians Health Alliance and is volunteer physician at the Good Neighbor House Medical Clinic in downtown Dayton. He has also volunteered as a camp physician and first aid instructor at the Young Disciple Youth Camp.

Dr. Kanomata speaks conversational Japanese and enjoys jogging, playing the trumpet and bible studies. He and his wife Shelly and their five children like to hike, camp and participate in volunteer Christian children’s programs.
