PriMED Clinical Research Hypertension Study

Study Name: ATTAIN-HYPERTENSION

Purpose:

The purpose of the study is to learn more about the investigational medication, a possible new medicine for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in people who are overweight or have obesity.

PriMED Physicians and PriMED Clinical Research are hosting two research studies to learn more about a possible new medicine for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in people who are overweight or have obesity. About 487 people will be in each of the two studies.

The study aims to learn:

  • Whether it can help overweight people or those with obesity control high blood pressure.
  • Whether it works better than a placebo (a placebo is an inactive or “pretend” study drug).
  • The possible side effects of the study drug.

What to Expect:

  • You will be asked to come to our research clinic for visits.
  • Your health will be evaluated at each appointment by our research nurse and physician.
  • All study-related care and evaluations will be at no cost to you or your insurance.
  • You may be compensated for time and travel.

Participants who qualify for this study:

  • Are 18 years or older.
  • Have a diagnosis of high blood pressure.
  • Have a diagnosis of overweight or obesity (BMI of 25 or more).

This study will take about 70 weeks to complete.

Study activities may occur at the study doctor’s office, your home, or other locations as specified for the study and as allowed by local law.

The study doctor will talk to you about the specifics for this study, covering topics such as:

  • What current treatments can you continue
  • How the study will be done, including what will be needed from you
  • Answering any of your questions
  • Small amounts of blood will be obtained from you for testing and monitoring purposes

Participants may receive compensation for their time and travel.
